Advice on shuddering pull away

Post by Cliffsta »

Hi Folks,
Just trying to work out this symptom in my 1.9 diesel polo (2007).
When I pull away in first, I get a shuddering, and I can feel it a bit in my pedal. And it also seems to create a delayed engagement with a dull thud as the engine finally takes. There is also like a two step thudder too, as I release the clutch.

Ideas?

Cliff

Sounds like dual mass flywheel is on the way out. I am assuming you checked simple stuff first like the dogbone mount under the car.

Sorry for the thread derail.....

Panic, i thought the same thing with my DMF, thats why i replaced it as well, but the mech removed it and showed me that it is still in a good condition.

How would i know if it is?

You changebit. If the problem goes away it was the problem. Younreally cannot 'look' at them and say it is still good.

It could be the springs on the pressure plate that's on the way out. I've never owned a vehicle with a DMF but the symptoms are exactly what I've experienced with clutches on vehicles with solid flywheels. Each time it was the springs on the pressure plate starting to pack up.
