Golf 5 drivers window issue

Post by cecilsmith197 »

Hi guys I have a golf 5 and I seem to have a problem with my drivers side window. When I do the one touch close it goes up then just opens to about half. Then when I close it by keep my finger on the button it closes. What seems to be the problem and can I remedy it myself. I'm sure there is a setting problem but I have no idea how to sort it out. Please help

Have the same issue, both front windows.
Someone said I should reset by holding it up with my finger and hold for a further 2 seconds once its closed, and do the same to open, still nothing helps.
Have searched and tried to remedy, haven't found a fix as yet, which is 2 years later.

Guys, it's wiring problem. Take it in for repairs, the wires are beginnings to loosen up within the doors. I had the same problem and I am fine with it now. Someone will say it's window motors/winders and no, don't replace them yet.

Surely then the switch won't work at all? I take it both guys, if you keep the switch "manual" up, it closes the window and the same with down?

Yeah if I do a manual close it closes. But the one touch close goes up but then down to about half way.

Sounds like its the anti pinch mechanism kicking in and causing the window to open after it closes.
Could be calibration, whereby the one touch close doesnt know the range of the window opening and closing and hits the top and thinks its maybe your hand, therefore opens again.

Try recalibrating it.

1) Disconnect Battery leave for 15 mins & reconnect.

2) Turn on ignition, Do Not Start Car.

3) Lower 1st Window all the way down & then up all the way. Do this on all the others. (One at a time)

4) Turn off ignition.

5) Start car as normal.

Something else that can also cause it, the window skin could be too tight or have something stuck in it, causing friction or too much resistance.
Try removing the skin and refitting it, or even use a soapy water and a cloth and clean the skin.

Its annoying, if its any consolotation, VW have not fixed the problem, the G7 still has similar problems.

By disconnecting the battery will not affect my aftermarket stereo and mfd

The window doesnt even reach the top, as soon as you press to close, it will roll up 5mm and then roll down.

Try cleaning the glass guides with silicone spray. Those get dirty over time which causes the window to have more resistance when moving. I did this on my cars and never had an issue since.

Hi guys just to update yourl on the issue with my drivers window with my golf 5. I lubricated it once every day and tested it once everyday. The speed to close and open changed and after a week it is now working fine. I've lubricated all my windows and they now work like a dream. Thanks for all the imputed it really helped and saved me from taking it in to vw who probably would have thrashed my pocket. Lol. Thanks again guys.
