Extending Maintenance Plan - 2012 Golf GTi DSG

Post by Ish20v »

Howzit Gents

I need some advice regarding the extension of my maintenance plan.

Vehicle is stock since I bought it in 2012 and has 64000km.

I currently have 5yr/90000km plan which I took when I bought the car. It's expiring this month.

VW can extend by 2yr/10000km

Just in two minds whether I want to spend the money to extend. Car hasn't given me any trouble in the past 5years. Just the usual, battery, brakes, wiper blades, hatch shocks that were replaced.

Thought I could get the shocks replaced at the last service but the technician said the shocks are still fine.

Are there any specific items that I should be worried about if I decide not to extend?

Extend that plan, and then if you keep it past another 10k kms, extend it again with an aftermarket warranty.

Especially on the GTI, that motor needs to have the chain and tensioners done at some point, soon by looking at your mileage.

By extending the warranty while in plan, the cover should not have limits on it.

I also need to shop around, but I have another year to do it.

I have heard good things about Motorvaps. might be worthwhile looking into.

extend it as cam belt change and fluid change at 74k km is about 10k upwards(dealer prices) depending on who you go to

i would definatly consider extending the maint plan for the car, the VAP from VW will be the best option while you can still do it, because it not only covers genreal wear and tear items as most other maint plans do, it also covers certain warranty items which is a plus. also everyting shows up on the VW systems so you dont have to worry about explaining to the service advisors which company your plan is with and no hassles with authorisation.

if youre interested in can you a quote on the plan, just give me your VIN, i can also quote you on a master cars warranty if just so you know how much it will come to.

What did they quote for the extension?

Most expensive preventative maintenance will be chain and tensioner kit, roughly 10K

The water pumps sometimes leak, but other than that the car should be solid

Sorry for the late reply

These are the prices I got from a few dealers

2yr/10000km - R22086
1yr/10000km - R13277

2yr - R27880

No idea why just 2yrs is so much more than 2yr/10000km

But I went with the 2yr/10000km option
