"I can recommend and offer you the following for your 1.4i Citi Golf

1. Brospeed Branch Manifold for R1950 fitted including a 3 year guarantee. This branch manifold effectively gives each cylinder of your motor its own exhaust pipe thereby improving efficiency and performance. Your car will be more powerful and fun to drive and use less fuel.

2. Complete 50mm stainless steel POWERFLOW exhaust system for R1650 fitted including a 5 year guarantee. This exhaust system will radically improve the flow of burnt gases from your motor thereby again improving performance and efficiency even further and it will give your car a nice sporty tone too.

I do not recommend a 57mm exhaust for your car because this pipe size is too big and will cause your car to lose power and make a big noise. 50 mm is the ideal size for your 1400 fuel injected motor – this is based on years of experience of modifying and tuning VW’s BUT I will gladly build a 57mm system for you if you insist that this is what you want.

A complete 57mm stainless steel POWERFLOW exhaust system will cost R1800 fitted."

I went with 50mm 2 box system and brospeed branch sounded nice.

I also did a 63mm powerflow system on my 9n3 gti recently and paid R2950.
Tx for the reply,

Increase in price of 4% p.y seems ok.

Then R2k seems good.

Only thing is my buddy has a 1.4i with a 50mm powerflow and branch and it is not as loud as i want it to be.

Just out of curiosity, what's the diameter of the stock exhaust pipe?

It's not the size of the pipe that makes it loud or not. It's how much baffeling is in the silencer or how it is designed.
Putting more boxes will make it less loud. Putting none will make it very loud.
So tell the exhaust shop you want noise and they will put in less/smaller boxes and you will get more noise.

If you havent decided yet I had a system done many moons ago by amien at evo tuning in Ottery. He does sto and mrt software as well.

He's welds were flawless. Much better than the system I had done at powetflow Bellville

Have decided to go with Powerflow, but did not have time to go this weekend.

Ottery is a little far for me to drive hence me opting for Powerflow Bellville.

I still have this week to decide though.

Will a one box system be loud on a 1.4 Carburetor Golf 1 preferably a 50mm? Looking to fit at pro-fit exhausts.

Lots of guys here in CT fit one back box on either Carb or FI 1400s and its not too loud. Sounds decent-ísh

The guys will recommend a system that works best... If you are in any way planning a 2l motor swop, best would be to fit that. 50-57mm progressive works well. But it will be too big if you going to remain 1.4 in the long run
