Jetta 2 cli big bumper, not stsrting when cold

Post by Desmondcli »

Hi All just joined the club, i have a 91 jetta cli 1.8 with KJetronic. Mornings the car wont start at first swing after 5 or 6 tries she starts. When it gets warmer she starts 1st swing.I was told its the K Jet and need to replace with MP9 or Dictator. Is there anyone that can repair or service this ? Im in Randburg

There is a cold start injector on the inlet manifold that could be buggered. Or the Thermo Time Switch on the water outlet on the head is buggered.

Panic can give better advice when he logs on, he knows the K-Jet systems better than most.

yeah cold start injector - timed by cold start timer. power only supplied while you are turning the starter. so start by checking the cold start timer for power while you crank it, then see if power gets to the plug of the cold start injector for just a certain time.
so first google and see what cold start timer looks like and then the cold start injector sits on the side of the intake manifold
