S3 8L - After run pump - delete or not ?

Post by P1LAYA-ZN »

Good day gents,

So, this pump seems to be running intermittently and also is leaking coolant. Should I just remove and bypass it ?
Not sure exactly what it costs at the Dealers, always afraid to phone and get a price.
Would it really be a big deal deleting it seeing that I always drive like a granny for the last 1 km before my destination.

I personally would not do it.

To my knowledge, its an auxillary water pump for cooling the turbo on the 1.8T

Despite you grannying the car for the last 1km... I would never remove anything relating to turbo cooling.

The cost of fixing a blown turbo and the mess it creates... ouch.

Can't you source the pump from GW Dalery?

It's the little things that make them run right. Anybody can slap a basic bottom end together. that is the easy bit. It's all the little things that makes these builds a success or not.

They are sub R2k. Good bit of insurance against hot shutdowns.
