Lets talk VCDS logging

Post by Jacques1397 »

Howsit guys.

I need help. I know how to log my car , want to test and see of there is gonna be a diffrence in timing pull with diffrent fuels

I know for a fact under load the car pulls about 6 degrees negative timing after a run or 2 in this lovely summer heat. So want to see if higher octane will fix this in a way. Seems like she loses her power from 4000rmp ish upwards.

What should the timing pull be ? Still a noob amd trying to learn more , but google makes it confusing

I know that less timing pull , more to the 0 sode is better and advancing it can cause probs if not running higher octane fuel ? Correct ?

More information about your car.
Mods, mileage, besides timing pull how do the rest of your logs look? i.e. AFR, Fuel Pressures etc.

Planning on running the logs now

Will do 2 logs. One with Fueling and one with Timing.

Mk5 GTi 2007 model. FR&R stage 2 with K04 , intake and downpipe. I know the heat causes heatsoak and then pulls timing - Then gonna run more logs with NF Ultra mixture to see if the timing improves or stays the same. Just need to pinpoint the reason why she loses power on top end. Although mechanically everything is perfect as far as it seams. Just the heatsoak issue. Has an Aftermarket Nuespeed 14 Row cooler aswell

Timing pull should be 0 or as close to 0 as possible
Fuel mix will aid timing pull, However the car never had timing pull up here so I never used additives, so cant say

rule of thumb is anything over 3deg should be looked at, however 6 is not to bad considering the heat in Nelspruit
A better solution over fuel additives is WMI

When logging look at air temps, it use to run about 6 deg above ambient in JHB on hot days, and 2 deg above on cold days, which is very good for a FMIC only, WMI will get it below ambient easily

For sure. Nelspruit heat is just a beeach Image. But nothing wrong with the rest of the car. Just need to find a solution for now. WMI planned soon but currently out of budget.

Will add the ambient temp to the logs and see what happens.

Posting logs here as soon as I have them

Can notice heatsoak. So surely losing a bit. Teated earlier. Got max -3.8 degree on a cylinder. Not too bad. Was my 1st run. After that gets a bit worse. Got the NF now so will test again.

Tested at 12 @ 30 degrees and 80 % humidity. So sure by tonight when we have some drags and the NF worked into the system it should run better.

For some reason my VCDS freezes after about 2 r 3 minutes into the log. So I will do another one and test in 1 gear to see diffrences
