Hi Taariq.

You can go stage 2 with just downpipe, but for your biggest gains its def worth fitting an upgraded intake system to make full use of the software.

You can build a decent intake for around R2.5k vs R7k for the intakes on the market.

1) Fit DP (Enjoy Car,..Exhaust sound under Boost)
2) Fit Intake (Enjoy car,..shoo shoo sound)
3) Check DV (If old version upgrade to RevH)
4) Upgrade to Red-Top Coils (NOT A MUST, but rather be sure)
5) Load SW (Once car running good on HARDWARE MODS)

NB: Take your time when modding,..! :hi:
CW MKV GTi - Kontrol Freaks CAI - Xcede DP + Exhaust - DogBone Insert - 30mm Lowered - R8 Coils - RevH DV - 20" AMG Wheels - R32 Bumper & Mudflaps

Nope, if the intake's MAF housing size is incorrect, the MAF will either under or over-read, which affects fuelling and timing amongst other things. A prime example of this is/was the Motorcade TFSI intakes which were absolutely terrible.
