A4 2.0T or VW CC 2.0T or MKVI GTi

Post by Heinvr »

Hi, Everyone.

So I'm in the market for a new car.
Considering
1. VW CC 2.0t (2012 or newer)
2. A4 2.0T (2012 or newer)
3. VW GTi MK6

A petrol CC is bloody hard to find.

The A4 (this is according to WeBuyCars) has endless problems with oil lights and oil leaks, all of which results in an R80k repair bill (to the point that WBC doesn't finance the A4 anymore). I find this hard to believe. If this was true, won't these issues plague the VW's too?

A clean GTi is near impossible to find.

What are your thoughts?
Any reason to go for either of the 3 cars?
What about the oil leak story on the A4?

Thanks!

It depends on your needs, the car with the most amount of comfort and value for money will probably be the CC. It is the larger car and I would go with the CC over the A4, just because im not a fan of the newer gen A4's.

I would have bought if it were 18 months from now but I am not ready to replace my R just yet. I have always loved CC's and will own a VR motor in some form at some stage.

Every forum member who have had both the MK5 GTI and MK6 GTI will tell you that the MK5 build quality is better.
You might get an A4 for cheaper but once you try to sell, you will be sorry you did not go for the GTI
The EOS also came with a 2.0T

If it was my choice between the cars you mentioned, I would go for the CC. Purely because its more exclusive than a A4, I love the lines on it, such a good looking car, and it has plenty of space.

Since you have owned Jettas from mrk2 to mrk5, and mentioned the concern about fuel economy, why not also throw in a Mrk6 Jetta Tdi into your options. You can choose between 1.6 and 2.0 Tdi. 2.0Tdi is just very rare.

CC's are nice, don't have enough experience though to comment.
A4 2.0T - I think of sales reps when I see them, nice comfy cars but not exactly a looker
MKVI GTI - Currently have one, fuel consumption is amazing for what it is, looks relatively good and takes to mods very well.

What's your budget, a clean GTI can be a bit pricey still. For the right price mine is for sale :hi:

If I recall correctly, sixteen10 got pretty decent fuel economy on his CC, nowhere as heavy as the Mk5 .:R32......... but obviously not in the TDi league. :driving:

MK6 GTI cause will hold a resale value when you decide to sell.

The CC and A4 being a more premium car.

Numerous reports of Audi's(various models) consuming oil and dealer's saying it's normal however there are one's that don't.

I'm loving my 2013 CC TDI. The facelift is so much better than the previous one. Just did a trip down to KZN and got 1300km on the 65L tank, fully loaded car.

Really comfortable, lots of creature comforts, massively spacious. Really surprised how quickly I adapted to it coming from my GTi.

I have owned a 2012 A4 2.0T, 2014 A4 2.0T Quattro, 2015 A4 2.0TDI Multi and a 2012 VW CC TSI. The CC is a much sportier drive than the Audi and puts its power down much better. The CC is also lighter on petrol and better looking. Neither of these two cars hold their values well so you can pick up some seriously good bargains. CC shares parts with the G6 GTI so should be cheaper to maintain out of plan.

If it was my money, I would get a 2.0TSI CC if I like sporty driving, if I want to save money, I would get a CC TDI.

I'm biased but the A4 B8 2.0t is a really great car, but you have to get one with a nice list of extras.
