Exhaust Gaskets up to manifold, where to go?
Hi guys, Been a long time since ive posted.
Where can i take my polo to have all gaskets replaced.
Ive got a exhaust leak somewhere which i can hear but cant seem to pin point where it is on my own.
I need to have exhaust rubbers replaced anyways so thought maybe i should just have all gaskets replaced from exhaust mani all the way to where the exhaust and DP meets.
Exhaust mani, Mani to turbo, Turbo to DP and DP to exhaust that will also not charge me both kidneys?
around eastrand side/edenvale etc.

Manifold to turbo and turbo to dp can be sourced from VW for about R200 for both.

It's too early to expect people to think
At least you have left the boost leak life and began the exhaust leak one

Just take it to an exhaust shop, tell them you think you have a leak, put it on the lift/ramp/hoist, ask them to quote to fix, and then say "Ok, thanks, I will have to come back the end of the month. You normally let the car idle, and they check underneath while blocking it off a little at the back. Takes all of 10 or 20 mins. Then you know what is wrong, how much you not going to pay, and what you need to do it yourself. Problem, no problem!

Re: Exhaust Gaskets up to manifold, where to go?
Im guessing u have a 9n gti stompie? I know on the 9n polo gti and golf4 gti has an issue with the gasket where the turbo mounts onto the manifold, i experienced issues when previous people change those 3 bolts that couples them together and the bolts get loose in time, also had issues of the mating surface being warped and threads on manifold being damaged.
Best is to buy the steel gasket from goldwagon +- R90 or from agents and supply whoever is going to fit it on, as the aftermarket gaskets that exhaust shops keep doesnt last too long.
Easiest way to find an exhaust leak, get an 8mm or so rubber pipe or hose pipe, hold 1 side NEAR ur ear and the other around a suspected leaking area u will be able to hear the leak. (I said near the ear not INTO the ear.. lol)

Stompie, you're in Edenvale right?
You can swing past DTM workshop at the bottom of Van Riebeeck, before the incline headed towards Terrace road and GW Edenvale.... Call Bruce 061 310 8060, tell him Rory referred you, he will give you a discounted rate on the work.
