2l ABF on ITB's knocking noise.

Hi guys.

ABF recently developed a light tapping/knocking sound.

Running a stock 2e bottom/ABF head,cams and throttles.

sounds like its coming from the bottom end,when pulling away i also get like a rattle sound almost as if im in a high gear at low RPM in first and sometimes second.
it also tends to pop intermittently under engine breaking

oil pressure seems fine,car runs well.

any ideas as to what it could be?

pulled the Alternator belt off and the noise stopped so seems to be either the water pump or alternator bearings.

could be crankshaft big-ends or mains bearings if knocking under load
