Hi,
Can you change fuel from lead replacement to unleaded by just filling up? Would unleaded grant better performance?

All VW motors made from 1984 can run on unleaded.
Unleaded will not give better performance.

yes you can change by just filling up.
mk1 was stopped being made in 1983. What you have is a cictigolf and it is happily unleaded compatible.
