Hi guys i have a 2l golf, just fitted the motor having probs to get the starter to turn,my friends say i should get a reduction starter from a golf 4 and blah blah blah...
My question here is which mark gives tdc? flywheel mark or crank pulley mark? or doesnt it matter as long as i get tdc?
Reason for asking if i lighn up my crank pulley and intermediate shaft then the flywheel mark is way off but still get tdc and if i lighn it up with the flywheel then the crank pulley is off but stll get tdc.
very weird i know

Re: timing marks
Front crank pulley marking is usually right.
