Polo Playa 1.6 Clutch Cable (Self Adjust)

Post by Brat Boy »

Hi Guys

Please can you assist, I need to put in a new clutch cable due to the old one breaking on the plastic clip that plugs on to the pedal. The problem I am having is getting the new cable to stay on the pedal. What happens is when I press the clutch down the pedal stays down and the cable slips off is there somthing that I am missing in the installation.

What I did in the install
Removed old cable as it was loose already to nothing needed on pedal end
Threaded new cable through following the same routing
Installed cable on pedal by clipping it onto the pedal
Installed cable onto the Release Arms with new Rubber block and circlip slide
Released tension holders
Then pressed pedal in to test and then the pedal stayed down and cable slipped off.

I tried for about 8 hours to get this right and tried almost anything. The cable was bought from Goldwagen Delarey and the part number matches the old one. The lengths are the same. I started swearing and bleeding after 3 Hours incase anyone wants to know.

Please Please Help.
Kind Regards
Brat Boy

Those cables are a big headache! I installed the mk1 adjusteble cable in my playa and my problems came to an end. It is much cheaper as well.

So what is the status of the cable currently. Expanded but you can push it in or expanded and now you can't hook the pedal on?.

Hi Panic

Sorry for the late reply. I sorted it out, it was the plastic bush that sits in the firewall. I got a new one from Goldwagen and struggled to put it in but it eventually got in with some swearing.

Thanks
