Morning starting issues

Post by NicholasDG »

Hi all,

Driving: 2006 1.4i Velo - branch and free flow installed for 8 years

I have a very strange issue going out n with my car, I'm struggling to start my car in the morning , so my normal routine is put in the key turn it slight all lights come on wait for the pump to prime then turn more and car starts no issues , but this hasn't been the case for about 4-5 months now

I put in the key turn slightly lights come on one primed I turn more the car start then just cuts off 1-2sec later , now sometimes this happens 1-7 times in the morning before I can leave the house , then through out the day the car will start fine with no issues it's only happens with the first start of the day.

Another thing is Once I get the car started and going I'm getting a heavy smell of fuel while driving , I'm not sure where it's coming from or if it's just a bug of of fuel from the car not starting straight away , I'm also getting slight popping from the exhaust when I in gear and tap off the accelerator

Morning starting issues

Would the sensor being faulty explain the heavy smell of fuel I get when I'm driving the car, also I notice that when I pull off my car bogs down like it's being starved of fuel then when I get to about 2000rpm it picks up again, this car is doing some strange **** , if anyone is around the kraaifontein area and has a bit of time maybe pop in and check it out whenever

Well guys I'm back as suggested I finally managed to get the sensor replaced and still the same issue , I turn the key it revs up like its going to warm up then just dies, also noticed that when I turn the key and car is swinging , I hear a bunch of clicks and ticks behind the dash. Not sure if this is related but my water for my wipers no longer comes out motor doesn't start up . Also sometimes when I try to start the car and get it started my door light above my head stays on even though all doors are properly closed

Hi all,
Really hope someone can help me here , every time I drive my car I'm getting a heavy smell of fuel coming through my air fan vents on my dash , does anyone know what might be the cause of this, iv looked through the engine bay and under the car but can't find a leak anywhere

Check fuel lines connecting onto the petrol filter from the fuel rail for wear and tear and also for clamp tightness.

Wow I'm seriously getting ready to throw this car in the trash, now my car is starting to just randomly switch off while I'm driving , to the point that my radio goes into safe mode my time and distance meter gets reset. Had the same issue a few years back and had to get a auto electrician and check my car he ended up removing that blue little box under the cubby hole, can anyone recommend someone to look at my car some serious pixies roaming around under the bonnet.
