My Golf Citi Rox 1.4 will not start and keeps switching off on its own

Post by Chazb »

Ok, I have a problem with my 2008 Citi Rox 1.4.

Ever since the rain started in January, my car has been having issues;
It refuses to start immediately, I have to attempt a few times before it does.
When it starts, it goes on for a little bit and turns off as if it has been switched off. (Loses power).
While I'm driving, my car keeps jerking (cutting) and starts losing power while I'm on the road speeding.
I have changed the plugs, fuel filter and checked to see if there are wet parts but it is getting worse by the day.
What could be the issue?

I had a similar problem, the culprit was the coil. It had a hairline crack and when it rained did what your car does.

Replace the temp sensor. Had same issue and was sorted after replacing the temperature sensor.

If you say after the rain then there's only one thing I can think off, fuel pump relay is going!! Quiet a popular occurrence on the MK1

Check the distributor, had this issue on my old mk1,water gets in there and it runs like crap.
test the Hall sensor as well.
could be either of the two.
