Golf 5 1.9 TDI turbo throttle at high RPM..

Post by Jambalya »

Hi fellas

When driving at high RPM of late, I've noticed my boost just dies but then settles at a lower speed, what I imagine limp mode feels like/is.

I've also been told prior to driving that my turbo oil return pipe is leaking. Are the two connected?

Anyone recommend a decent place to get this checked out near/in Randburg/Greenside? Preferably not VagSpec.

Thanks

I was going to suggest VagSpec but you're not keen on them.

How do you notice the boost dies at higher rpm?

Hi Neuk

I was accelerating and the engine just dies without lifting my foot off the accelerator. I am driving again today and will try to give a more accurate description.

I read somewhere else that it might be the N75 valve, whatever that is.

It almost sounds like a sticky vanes/valve issue where the turbo isn't adjusted as it should but it is difficult to diagnose online without seeing the car.

ok, it looks like revving up to high RPMs is fine, but when in cruise control, if I set the speed to lets say 110km/h, and then brake and then resume speed from about 95/100km/h, the engine revs up (harshly) to within a hairs breadth of the set speed of 110km/h and then revs just die after the attempt until I accelerate again. Never had this problem until recently.

That sounds like something you will need to get a professional to look at.
