Hey guys I recently bought a tdi and have replaced my engine mounting about two weeks ago and about three days ago I heard a very soft knocking sound coming from my driver side around the drivers footwell and it goes along with a rattling sound when the car idles once it's moving on the road.. the sound stops and the knocking sound occurs when I'm changing gears..clutch is slipping as well when I floor it in high gear.. car does have software..I assume I might need a new clutch kit as well..if someone could please help me it's much appreciated

Sounds like the Dual Mass Flywheel is on its way out.

+1 to the dmf.. sometimes the rattle sound goes away when the clutch is pressed, i guess it depends on how badly damaged it is..?

If the clutch is slipping and the dmf is rattling, change the whole lot. Dmf, clutch and pressure plate, and the concentric cylinder. On a modded tdi, the clutch can LOOK usable but clearly is not hence the slipping under boost.
A good clutch is needed to handle the torque, go with a sachs kit around R8k for a 9n tdi.

The knocking could also be that bone shaped mounting under the gearbox, if thats damaged the engine will be shaking on idle tho

Just my 2c if its dmf just do the whole kit, you will not regret it. I just did a full sachs kit for round about R8k, thats with installation

96kw dmf kit is about R10k. Or go Smf for 5k and live with the chatter

no, 5k usually for the smf
another 1.5k usually for fitment
