EXHAUST SIZES ON A 2L 8V

Post by nikesh »

Hi Guys,

I've heard a few different combinations when it comes to fitting a new system, such as 50mm into 57mm and 57mm into 63mm

I am building a 2.0L 8V with a 276 cam and a little head work in a Golf 1

2 guys have already advised me that I should go the 57mm into 63mm

I'd appreciate your views

I wouldn't go larger than 57mm with the setup you are planning.

Howsit bud, haha the DA is still going strong btw!! With the setup you plan on, we have found that 4-2-1 (42mm tubing branch) done by Powerflow with their 57mm into 63mm work the charm.....Good for loads of torque!! But then again I'm talking from a personal experience and for some reason my engine defies a lot the general consensus around what works and what does not!

2007 Velociti- WHITEWALKER [Std 2.0 bottom end, head gas flowed, ported, valve swirled, 276 Estas, 4-2-1 Branch, 57mm piping from front to back]

Ok so I'm running the long intake with a VR6 throttle, Standard Bottom end, head has been flowed and ported however the valves are still standard- running a 288 Estas Billet....Engine was freshened up last year April and the most recent power figures on it is 110wkw & 219nm- tuned on pump fuel & my special octane.

I bought the Sniper NOS kit as well which I ended up selling due to the fact that in Durban we get raped to top up a bottle of GAS- further more the kit is R8000 which isn't bad but requires a lot other pieces to make sure it works well and can offer a sense of reliability..The add ons were coming to R9000 over and above the R8000 for the kit- It just didn't make sense!!

My car is no dyno queen, first point to make- You ask, I tell.

The dyno that it was tuned on is the equivalent to Autotrix or tighter- the guys that tunes my car is a personal friend of Vino, he also calibrates and maintains the Autorix dyno besides having his own shop (Electroboost).

On Vino's dyno about a year and a half back before the engine was freshened up & before getting the head done- it made 108wkw & 217nm @ Autotrix.

If you familiar with the racing scene in Durban, my cars the red golf with a CRANKCASE sticker at the back or what normally catches the eye is the huge PCTSA sticker on the side.
