Getting a gti7 written off and transferring

Postby Rourke » Fri Nov 10, 2017 8:56 am

Hi Guys

So trolling insurance write offs and i see a GtI 7.

Bad accident on the cabbin but engine and front look in tact.

Code 4 so u no its only for stripping , Bidding at R 31000.00 with fees etc maybe you pay about R 38000.00 there around if no 1 els bids.

So for people in the know how viable will it be to do this transplant in another body be it caddy golf 123etc ?

What do you guys think?

I wont be pursuing this ,but its just a brain fart, lokl :driving:

but awesome will this be?

cheers

i think they are popular hey

so there are many on the road , the more there are the more chances of accidents

Just to give an idea im not in a high populated city but for every 10 to 15 gti mixed Rs i see i see 1 A45 but very scares and Ford STs 1 also very scares.

but also judging by the way people drive them , line cutting like maniacs etc i would say might contribute as well. they pull like hell with the dsg boxes even on a slight uphill.

J10M

I dought it as iv seen alot of scrap yards with lots of cash also bid at these insurance autos so you in the private sector cant really compete , but if you were the only bidder then yes i guess you can.

I will keep a eye and hopefully see where the bidding will end on this 1.

What i also cant believe is that our scrap yards are not like overseas 1's . they charge rediculous prices for items , for example a polo standing over 10years in the sun and rain fading away in the scrap yard , I enquire on a bonet catch and lock machanism i get a shock at around 500 550 for that old thing. yes i know its original but its been used and there are no gaurentees on how long it will last. A new aftermarket 1 cost me 170.

They are rediculaous i think . and it dont stop there even pawn shops are the same u go check a second hand item and low and behold it cost the same as in the shop brand new . whats that all about ?

How do these guys make money to keep on buying new stock if they cant even sell the old stock?

Not really, hey.

We get a lot of educated engineers driving them.

And 7 out of 10 Golf GTI of our claims gets repudiated due to driver stupidity.

GTI's and F30 BM's....

What insurer you work for again? And what you mean by driver stupidity? Driving over the speed limit? Cause that you can do in an Atos too

Insurance companies have certain specified percentages for write offs.

For example, any volkswagen that's damage exceeds 55% of the vehicles value is declared a write off.. Period no two ways about it.

And each other vehicle brand has their own write off percentage depending on the risk type of the vehicle.
