Fake Cops?

Postby G10 » Thu Jan 05, 2017 10:25 am

Last week Tuesday I was on my way home from wooodmead, as I got to the robot by the bridge a white bmw is on my left, 2 guys in cop outfits.

He signals to put my window down then tells me to pull over by the bridge, I asked why(seatbelt on, was driving slow on woodmead), he just says don't ask questions just do it. Told him no problem, follow me to the buccleuch station and he can check the car etc and he then threatens to push me off the road and arrest me.

Robot goes green, I say come catch me and I am off, floored it all the way to the station with hazards on, as I pulled into the station and parked, I see these okes slow down by the driveway, then drove passed and took a u turn and disapppeared....

Don't know what to make of it, I was happy that the roads were empty so I could floor it. Shame the driver tried hard to catch me, must have been a slow bmw that they stole

Did you by any chance get a number plate or the Beema make or model. This is scary stuff...

All I know is that it was the F30 series, I didn't get the plate as he was next to me and then was far far behind as I raced off to the station. Yes it was a unmarked, nothing indicating that it could be a cop car.

I was nervous to get out and go to the road just in case they had weapons, all I could do was tell the cops at the station and they got someone on the radio to drive around the area, I just stayed at the station for about 20 minutes before driving home.

Yes it works on your nerves after these things happen, I still relive the hijacking in malboro every time I visit my uncle and that was like 10 years ago!

Yes they around
similar type of thing happened to me in Pta on church street,
Stopped me and wanted to see my E30 engine numbers, asked if they could search
white Almera, SAP outfits, one wanted to check the engine and other wanted to search my car,
So I told the one let me finish with the engine number and then we can check my car inside,
He was so impatient I closed my doors I said MR give me chance as I need to be with u while u checking my car,

he opened and Wala he picks up this white ball wrapped in a plastic, saying its coca
Saying aha I got u, I said hell no that's my ****, where u found it, he say under your driver seat,
I said lets go station and I can call my lawyer as that aint my ****, we can do a drug test aswell,

they started getting agro, one grabbing my phone,
I managed to call my cuz which is a metro police in Tshwane, when they heard me calling him,
They said check here give us R 1000 and u can go, i said sharp I'm waiting for my cuz he got the zaak
they waited with me for like 10 mins and all of a sudden jumped in there car and sped off,

i went to report it at Pta West station, the number plate of that Nissan Almera belonged to a Toyota Avanza,

they take chances, but i thank my lucky stars they didn't take me or my car,

becareful peeps

You did the right thing, I hate stopping for marked cars, unmarked cars can follow me to the nearest police station.

I am not going to take a chance, especially since there are so many trying their luck.

What about those guys patrolling highway that are flagging down speeders? Do those cars have anything to identify them as cops?

Maybe I am mistaken then, but don't those RTI okes use unmarked cars on the highway?

I know of them in Cape Town but didn't know they are in Gauteng.

What I am worried about is how do we know who to stop for if they are up here? It would be a similar thing to what happened to me wouldn't it? I would be very hesitant and race off if someone tried to stop me on the highway.

If they are legitimate police, they will have no issue with you putting your hazards on and travelling at the speed limit to the nearest police station.

On the N1, I see about 4 or 5 unmarked white BMW F30 320i's in the traffic with cops, they hang around the left lane, of someone tries to skip traffic in the yellow lane, they pull out, blue lights on, and pull them off. See it everyday on the N1 between Soweto on-ramp and Gordon Offramp.

White unmarked F30's and now F20's(1 series) are JMPD officers.

White G6 GTI's are Gauteng Traffic Police's high speed unit (cars have camera's).

Best way to differentiate between real and fake cops, is that the real cop car will have blue lights on the dash AND grill. But this is kinda hard to check if they parked next to you.

On N1 was chased by the white BMW and didn't stop because it had no number plates. Went all the way until I spotted metro cops and pulled over next to them and guess what the two stooges were real cops, came out with rifles but lucky enough they made a joke out of the whole thing.

My concern is one can be killed in situation like this cause you stop they hijack or even harm you - you run they shoot still

A few weeks ago I saw something on twitter about "cops" driving around in an unmarked white Golf 7 GTI. These guys operate mostly around Tshwane and they do not hesitate to shoot. The tweet advised people to look out for a sunroof on the Golf as the ones used by cops do not have sunroofs
