I must commend the KZN comm on the organisation of this event.

After the abysmal failure that was Dubrun 17, I wasn't too optimistic going to this event. But after attending this park off, it is clear that the comm all pulled together to make this a success. I know how much work and planning must have went in to the event to get what we saw on Saturday.

The vibe I got when entering the underground parking was very much that of the scene in Tokyo Drift when we are introduced to the Tokyo drift scene.

Some nice stands from sponsors, good music playing and lots of nice looking cars.

The venue was quite a drive, but it was an awesome spot. I only wish that I had come earlier to justify the drive (I only ended up staying about an hour as I arrived late and the place started emptying once the prize giving was done).

The event had it's issues that i observed, most beyond the control of the comm.
- Lots of revving and backfiring
- Someone from Phansi crew brandishing their gun all over the place, pointing it at his friends (not sure whether real weapon or not, the thing wasn't even holstered, just tucked into his unbelted jeans)
- Lots of drinking

Overall a successful and well put together event from the KZN Comm.

Thanks alot Mitch.

Yes we all worked very hard on this one.
We wanted to create the Tokiyo park off feel. We very happy we did achieve the feeling for you guys.

We are planning out next event wish will be performanced and charity based.

I agree it's very difficult controlling drinking and gun pointing (wish I was not aware of till now)

Can't believe someone pulled a gun out. Pointless but oh well.

Ya the revving is a issue but hard to control. It's car life.

Our next park off we want to go bigger. There is lots of ideas to top this one off.

We do believe we would of pulled more cars but due to 3 other events happening it made it hard to pull the hole kzn.

We happy with the end result and sure we can go bigger soon .

But overall thanks alot for attending

Revving and backfiring thing is part and parcel of car shows in Durban. We have tried to control this before but it would having to speak to every single one of the car owners.

The gun issue, none of us were aware of this but I think it was a pellet gun as I did see the Phansi guys with their battle vests on with Phansi reaction unit printed on it.

As for the drinking, as much as we did tried to make sure people didn't do it, we can't hold everyone's hand. They are all grown up. We are just glad it didn't lead to any fights or trouble for us with using the venue in the future. The only real issue for us was the fact that we had to clean up bottles packed in corners.

Thank you for attending Mitch. We hope to see you at more of our future events. If you have anymore suggestions for us we will gladly listen and try take them into account for the future.

As mentioned, the issues I observed were not ones Comm could do anything about, short of walking around confiscating keys. The request was made, but people are not grown enough to behave like adults. It could just be that the vibe was infectious, inciting attendees to want to make noise. It was certainly the right venue with the echoing.

Please don't let my observations take nothing away from the success of this event. I thought it to be brilliant. Fortunately the noise hasn't soured the relationship with the mall.

Any word on the suppossed road block when leaving? I took a route out the parking which avoided the area where it was suppossed to have been set up. I was not keen on seeing Metro again (I got pulled over that morning with Metro threatening to pull my disk for not having a 2 finger gap in front, this after raising the front of my car by 20mm so I could drive dirt roads on Saturday). When we left the roads were clear.

I was also surprised that there were no incidents despite the alcohol. If all events could end that way, then clubs would not have to restrict drinking at events

We had 12 security guards on shift to ensure we all are save from any issues

Events has died down due to the following

We battled to get a new venue for a park off. Due to guys said they can't drive that far to watercrest. To attend a event. And the mall said sorry watercrest can't happy again due to the issues we faced on that night.

We also facing issues with all the small crews doing events.... so there is permanently a event going on. So getting dates is a issue.

There was a charity event planned but but we did not have enough time to plan it.

Personal lives also got busy. The comm has got busy with work studies and so on in Kzn.

So In a nut shell. JHB is working on a new team for Kzn.

Tl:Du - events died down, time was an issue for the charity event as well as personal lives. Small crews having their own events create problems for vwclubsa
