Nice to have a local supplier, saves worrying about customs and post etc. But why mark new as second hand?

Not entirely true. They are demo's or slightly used. Mine was used. You can't see it though. It looks brand new.

Same with my ebay one. It looked brand new, and came pretty much sealed, but had some music and destinations on it already.
Makes a lot more sense at the price if it's a demo or slightly used.

Fuse still ok?

If the unit works, there shouldn't be any issues.

Hi,

You need to connect the 'Code' cable to +12VDC. The PIN 16 on 'B' plug of QUADLOCK connector. The best way is connect it directly to +UB on the same connector.

Would really like to know if anyone is running 5218 on a version C. Version 4XXX i'm running messes up some of the town names and just says "dumma". Though it was the maps but new maps still hafve same issue. It's either 5218 or back to 3810. Have read quite a few people running 5XXX running on C units, but Tuffy said it would not work, so not overly keen just to download and try. However, having, take R519 toward "dumma" is particularly irritating.

Hello guys, i am some dude down here in Botswana, and was just lucky yo have joined this forum. For its so great how you guys are able to guide and assist each other in solving the existing handicaps.
I bought a VW passat from UK 2006 models B6. And got interested and bought a RNS510 exactly like what Keanublack bought to replace the existing one which was installed and worked well with my brother testing and using it before shipping. He managed even to copy in music on the hard drive, played movies without any problem.
However, when it arrived here, it can detect all the local radios, but has failed to play all the DVD i have tried, and today tried the SDdisc but just indicates erro, please check.

I don't have a lot of details on the RNS, because it was a second hand, obtained from ebay.

When i tried one of the newest DVD, indicated wrong location.

Has somebody encountered this before and what should i do, because want to enjoy this accessory.

Hold in the setup button until another screen comes up, you should be able to see all info then. If you come to that screen and hold setup in for another few seconds the development test mode screen comes up, but only if it's activated by VCDS.

Hi all,

I know this is slightly off topic, but which is better, VAGCOM or VCDS?

And where can I buy it from?

I need to get an upgraded canbus gateway as well, what part number must I look for? It's going in an '06 Jetta Mk5.

Thanks!

Have any of you done the fuse box mod? That would be a nice solution in the meantime.

As in: http://www.auto-polar.com/ ?

Will have a look into that as well.

I have just "upgraded" to an RCD310 from the RCD300, basically just got the car. I got the RCD310 from Tuffy, really nice chap.

I am looking to get the RNS510 from him closer to December, when it's bonus time!

So if you do not want to go through the hassle of finding a new canbus and recoding your canbus for your car try the method below. I have been using this method for over a year now with not problems at all.

My fuse box looks different to what you have in those images.

When checking in the manual I see that I have the radio fuse, obviously, and then I have a fuse labelled as "Sound System" is that the empty ECU slot you used? Maybe upload a scan of your manual with fuse allocation table?

My fuse box does not have that much in it.
