Need some sound advice

Post by Shadows101Fall »

So I decided the GT's Bose sound system isn't cutting it anymore, the quality is amazing but its age is starting to show. I replaced the mids in the front and back with pioneer mids and added tweeters in the front and back, major improvement so far

The next step is replacing the standard Bose subwoofer

I've got about a 50 long, by 27 high, by 25 deep space to work with, I'm going to make a fibreglass box that fits snug into the compartment where the Bose sub once lived.

I'm not going for competition quality sound or base, I'm going for a nice balanced system that isn't going to add any weight or burden any function or space in the boot, so I thought of fitting an 8" sub in the box, or two 6" subs, with the amp being bolted out of the way behind the rear seats so I can still access the spare wheel fully.

Now this is where the advice part comes in, I'm stuck between which subs to choose, and if I should add a port to the box or not because I am worried it's too small for a port.

Here's the subs I've considered so far:
