Hi all
So the past weekend I needed to charge the battery in the citi as car's been parked for about a week and a half and wouldnt start.
I have had a 55ah Optima yellow top for the past 8 years and recently its been loosing charge hella fast. Then last night I notice bubbling and leakage on the negative terminal and immediately stop the charge.
Now I gotta replace it. Looked around and GOOD GRIEF!!! I paid 2.7k when I bought it many years ago and now prices I'm seeing is around 4.6k. REALLY??
Any advice on another brand that makes a good dual purpose deep cycle battery? The interwebs seem to suggest that XS Power are as good or better. But wane hear from you guys, the brutal honesty here is refreshing and helps avoid buyers remorse.
Thanks
New Deep cycle battery advice??

Re: New Deep cycle battery advice??
what you want is an AGM battery not a deep cycle.
Optima is an AGM.
Affordable stuff- Atlas AGM or Varta AGM.
They great batteries and you can find an OEM replacement equivalent.
I use the Targa AGM batteries as i need lots of current on tap.
hope this helps.

@Nezo44
Thanks for the response, and yes makes sense. The Optima served me well over the years as I do play the system when the car is standing.
Would the batteries such as Varta be okay with that kind of use? Where could I have a look at the Targa batteries

In the Strubensvalley area, been quoted R1.8k for a 652 Varta at that shop by the spar.
Best price thus far too.

I am using a 680 E11 Varta and it is holding up well.
Been using it for 3 years now with no issues.
