Polo Vivo Radio fitment into 08 Polo Trend problems
Good day guys,
So here is the story, I bought a Vivo radio of a forum member here, got the radio and finally got around to fitting it last night. I unfortunately encountered these problems once connected (bearing in mind i had to get a Quadlock to ISO converter which was sold to me as plug n play):
1. Radio powered uo only with ignition on, and doesn't come on automatically with ignition like previous radio (RCD210).
2. Radio lights do not work at all whether Interior lights are on as well.
3. Once you put the radio on, use it and then pull the key out, the radio goes of however when you put it back n again (by turning ignition on also), the radio goes into safe mode and asks for the code again.
4. I need to get an aerial adapter as the RCD210 has the tiny white front for the aerial compared to the normal aerial.
So I am a newbie at fitment of sound items to be blatantly honest, so please excuse my ignorance. Can anyone possibly identify why the above is happening and share your feedback with me?
Could it be that the Quadblock to ISO is not the right ones or does it need modification (the one guy at Rivonia Sound) said that it could be possible?
Could it be the radio itself has an issue or could it be the fuse at the back is blown (which i have not checked as the radio is at home and the car isn't with me either)?
The Vivo Radio has enhanced the standard sound by quite a margin, the system has really come to life when the Vivo Radio was fitted and i really want it for that but very much more for the Bluetooth for my wife.
Thanks a mill in advance guys!

Seems like you don't have the power wired up correctly since its goes into safe mode meaning that the power is not constant.

Possible..it could be just a matter of swapping wires around to get it to work.AshG108 wrote:

Re: Polo Vivo Radio fitment into 08 Polo Trend problems
Do a google earch for polo radio harness check wires correspond...
For radio resetting all the timd theres a safe wire if im correct that keeps the setting
For power thats also wiring you need to have constant power to keep it on without the key also...

Re: Polo Vivo Radio fitment into 08 Polo Trend problems
Well come to think of it, i probably am going to have to go return the adapter. I remember on the packet that it said it was for BMW/Opel and when I asked the guy he said it has no issue and is definitely plug n play and will work with the VW.Imotions wrote:Do a google earch for polo radio harness check wires correspond...

I think he was wrong because it cannot be correct. Yes it does work but one or two wires are out and im not keen on that. Also the littel cubby he sold me is too small as well

Check wires thats the inly thing can give you the issues you have ... if the plug fits keep it just swap wires around to match the car harmess

Re: Polo Vivo Radio fitment into 08 Polo Trend problems
Cool thanks bud, I will research this and then attempt this weekend or so. The Polo Vivo radio really makes the original sound system come alive! Was really impressed!Imotions wrote:Check wires thats the inly thing can give you the issues you have ... if the plug fits keep it just swap wires around to match the car harmess

I really think its not worth the risk of setting your car on fire. Rather sell it.

Re: Polo Vivo Radio fitment into 08 Polo Trend problems
Very odd that its not a plug and play unit. I fitted a vivo radio in my 07 sportline and it was plug and play... no issues once i had the correct code.... sound quality for me though has decreased compared to the stock hu... if you had the stock unit with the 6 cd shuttle it should still work and you'd just need to plug the top block into the back with the power block... no need for adapters

Re: Polo Vivo Radio fitment into 08 Polo Trend problems
I see that explains it... see if you can get a stock connector from a scrapyard and rewire the current wiring to match the vivo deck... should be the same wiring probably just in different positions...AshG108 wrote:Hey Justin, i have the RCD 200, so i have the quadlock at the back. Sorry mate, If i ever sell again, ill put you on priority for purchase.
So I have fitted the radio and swopped the wires around, done by Craighall Car Audio, however the lights on the radio still dont work. So now I have to check if any fuses are pap or wires to be swapped again.
