Advice needed
I am looking to rewire my sound system from head to speakers, current setup:
Mids on the doors
Tweeters in the middle
6 x 9 at the back
I have 700w amp that I would like to run the 6 x 9's and possibly the mids.
I'm not a doof bang box fan but all that Is something with an acceptable bass, mids and tweeter.
What wiring can I use if I'm to remove the current wiring?
Your expert advice will be gladly appreciated.

Re: Advice needed
8g will be sufficient for a small system like yours but I'd advise you use 4g incase you want to upgrade to bigger amps and subs in the future.Targa and starsound make decent budget wiring kits which come with everything you'll need.If you interested in something a bit more high end look at stinger wiring kits.I had the sk6461(IIRC) in my golf and I was pleased with the quality and the price wasn't too bad.If you have extra cable left over,do a big3 upgrade if you haven't already done one.

Re: Advice needed
Speaker wiring may not make it sound better, proper mounting and placement will make more of a difference IMHO. Tweeters are usually placed on the bottom of the A-pillar or the corners of the dash for the optimum staging. Using sound deadening material around and behind your door speakers, and mounting your 6x9's on a solid backboard that creates a seal between the boot and cabin will improve bass response tremendously.
Using high quality RCA's (e.g. twisted pair Kicker/Stinger/RF...) between head unit and amp will help higher frequencies though. Make sure your amp is fed enough power also, higher quality power cables have more copper in them, cheaper ones have a thin copper core and thick plastic insulation - 4aug if your amp is 700w RMS, 8aug is fine if it's 700w max. remember to use the same size cable for both power and earth, and if your amp requires 4aug cable, big3 is recommended.
Set up of your cross-overs and equalisation will optimise your speaker outputs, for e.g. high pass on the door speakers with a cross-over around 60hz or so will reduce distortion at high volume

Re: Advice needed
good progress, another piece of advice I can offer - run your RCA's and power cables on opposite sides of the car (e.g. if your power cable runs down the left, run RCA's down the right), it helps with reducing noise like "alternator zing". Also, to avoid burning your car out don't forget the fuse in the engine bay, as close to the battery as you can.

Thanks B, my fuse is bang near the battery
I have already ran the RCA and power on the drivers side, will it help if i divert the RCA from under the seat to the other side?

Re: Advice needed
Hey bud good luck with the install. I had those same yellow RCAs they are really poor quality. the wire is just a few strands and the connectors get loose easily after a while.

once you've hooked everything up and you find alternator zing coming out of your speakers, then change, otherwise you may not have to. Remember also that high quality RCA's have decent shielding against noise.I have already ran the RCA and power on the drivers side, will it help if i divert the RCA from under the seat to the other side?

Re: Advice needed
yes, it might but you'll be treating a symptom not a cause. It might be cheaper to re-run wires and sort out earth connections than it would be to go buy a ground loop isolator
