RCD 310 Bluetooth

Post by Jakoos »

Can anybody please tell me where the bluetooth unit for this radio is situated in the 2011 VW Touran? As far as I can make out on overseas forums, it is supposed to be under the seat, but the Touran has got drawers there! Or is it underneath the drawers?

If it follows G6, its on the floor on the drivers side. So chair all the way back. depending on bluetooth version, it's either under a small carpet flap, or just loose in a styrofoam protector.

Thanks for your responses so far. I can activate the bluetooth audio on the radio and have all the buttons on the steering wheel, but my cellphone does not connect to the radio. I have seen on overseas forums that you need to reset the bluetooth unit if this happens, now I need to find the unit. Alternatively, how can I determine if the vehicle was specced with bluetooth?

All rcd 310 have the bt option on the radio, so do all mk6 have the buttons on the wheel even if the actual bt module isn't installed. It is probably the same for the tiguan. It was a R2500 option for the mk6.

OK, thanks. Second question - how do I find out if the car was specced with bluetooth? And, of course, if it wasn't, how difficult (and expensive) is it to fit OEM bluetooth?

If you can find a parts guy with a bit of patience, you can give him your VIN. ETKA greys out parts not fitted to your car, so if you find the page with the bluetooth module on it, if it's greyed out, it was not fitted. a VCDS scan will show currently installed modules, but not necessarily what was originally installed.
If you get a retorfit kit from kufatec or carsystems, it should come with a plug and play cable which makes fitting it pretty easy, although you'll liekly have to stash the module in the dash somewhere.
Also check with Tuffy on this forum as he seems to have a shop along similar lines to carsystems and Kufatec, but in RSA, which makes life a lot easier as he can do the install too.
