yup, thats known as a barier layer.
Same principle as a mass loaded vynil layer. The sheer mass of that layer blocks the sound, but it is best used in conjunction with a layer of foam.

Water won't affect the roof sealer. The smell is not too bad, and is only there when you install the thing.

Good day guys

In terms of the sound deadening material. check out this website

http://www.ananzitech.co.za/

all you need is on the web page also your application or use rather is of utmost importance as the STP range works better that way. there are different types that will help improve on what you looking for. Also a combination of the product will be needed to get the best results.

Its really easy. Put it outside in the sun for 30 - 45 min, and start applying. No heatgun needed.

STP has launched the new iSilver, this is a brilliant product just like alll the other STP products. Its Similar to the current Silver and the bulk pack comes with 12 sheets that cover 4.5 square meters. A bulk pack retails at R1200.00 which is R100.00 a sheet for a proper Butyl based vibration damping material.

Its non toxic and non fungal meaning it wont affect your health. No odour etc.

Word on the street Neets will be doing a car using three of STP's products soon. Maybe if we ask him nicely, he'll take pics...

I just caught this thread as I intend on quietening my car from road/exhaust noise specifically.

What is the verdict guys? Which product did you'll try out?

Ideally you would want to reduce the noise at the source before blocking it.
But for my floor im gona use a combination of stp bomb(around the wheelarches) and i-silver for the rest of it.

Nice choice bud. You can also look at vizomat for the floor. Are you planning on deadening the entire car?I think i should do a small write up on sound deadening and sound absorbtion.

I managed to get my hands on some 1/2 inch rubber, the type used on floors.
I am going to line the boot up and use some carpet before i buy anything this weekend.

Ooh never look at vizomat, yeah did the boot and halfway on the doors. so just wana get the floor and roof finished up.

Yeah go for it on the article, i think there is alot you can clear up on the absorption/blocking/deadening aspects.
