They are 2 completely different things.Kuvi-VPS wrote:Which would you choose and why?
One is designed to protect your car from stone chips and one is a super-hydrophobic coating designed to shed dirt from your car more easily.
100% agree - they are creating false expectations among consumers which is only going to hurt the coating installers in the long run once the consumers realize the coating didn't do everything they thought it wouldKyle wrote:some people reaaaaly stretch the capabilities of ceramic coatings.

This is exactly why I posted this thread, to clear up the difference between the two.
I have been getting customers calling for quotes and then saying they might as well pay half of what they would on a full frontal VPS fitment and have the whole car ceramic quoted and have the same protection on the whole body.....which is most definitely NOT the case.
Ceramic coatings cannot offer the protection that a PPF can.

Re: PPF or Ceramic Coating???
If it were my car being treated I would go with PPF. I like the fact that PPF is somewhat self healing so a blemish or scratch will basically self heal if heated or left in the sun.
You can use wax and sealant products on top of the PPF right? If so you will have all the water beading you will need as well

Re: PPF or Ceramic Coating???
Well its not ideal to use a Carnuba wax on PPF as this will cause the film to yellow. A sealant like the VPS sealer we use is fine as it has been formulated for PPF and will give you the water beading.dazza wrote:If it were my car being treated I would go with PPF. Re: PPF or Ceramic Coating???
Great thread bud! The market for these 2 products are vastly different to each other and both have their own pros and cons.
We do a lot of PPF full Frontal and offer the Ceramic Pro Product for the rest of the vehicle as the needs may vary from Panel to Panel on the same vehicle.
