Wow love the interior work you have done to date
Leave the K-jet or digifant alone.

Just install mp9 or aftermarket system.

Progress is a bit slow, we've been very busy at work and I was traveling quite a bit and now it's exam time too

Made space for the new motor on the firewall not a major change but still had to be done.

Reviving this old thread...

It really has been a while, things are going very slow unfortunately. I guess that's life.

Any way to the updates!

Found a new exhaust mani as the old one cracked think it's a better one anyway
Image

Cut the holes in the bonnet for airflow to the radiator excuse the dirty car.
Image

Radiator installed, use sqr bar to make a bracket and flat bar to mount to the body, not the best pic to show this

Last update before this weekend

Bought some "last" needed items for the motor to put it all together :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
Image

Then after a lot of damaged fingers and broken egos the motor was in and connected
Image

Going to try build an exhaust this weekend as I finally received the long awaited flange

So finally managed to get around to the exhaust. It's not complete yet. Still needs the last tail piece after the box.

Then I also found a 36dcd Weber and got that in there.

Any ideas on the best jet sizes to use. Struggling a bit at the moment to get it firing nicely.

Anybody have some idea of jetting sizes for the 36 DCD carb and where I could get.
Mainly stock 1.6 Motor, with flowed head. STD cam...unfortunately, hoping that can change soon.

It's been a busy holiday working on the car. I sold my mk3 jetta so needed to get the beetle going for transport. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of everything as I was focusing on getting it done. Will see what I can take pictures of and add.

Here are some pictures of a temporary gauge cluster I made as I'm going to rebuild the dashboard that is the reason it is temporary.

Still going to paint it...going to use some of my sister's craft paint hahaha

So today was another busy day trying to get things done. Again unfortunately I did not take pictures of everything...

So for starters I added a few angled pieces of wood to the gauge cluster to angle it towards the driver and then I painted it...
You will notice there is a dent on the side of the rev gauge...I dropped the cluster when I was busy putting it in, being to hasty :bang: :bang:
Image

Then I also installed the airfilter and made some temporary mock ups for the stand off brackets to create space for the motor, please excuse the bad pictures and the dirty car...
Image

Image

I also installed a new steering wheel and connected up the hooter, there was never wires for this.

Cleant the fuel gauge sender unit as it wasn't reading properly.

Fixed up wiring for the lights and indicators so all wiring is finished and fully functional.

So took the car for a few drives to see how it runs. Still some small tuning needed on the carb but getting there slowly

Also noticed that the temperature kept running high and wasn't stable.

I had a feeling that the grid I used in front was restricting the airflow to the radiator.
As can be seen here
Image

So I took it out and now it seems to be running better at more stable 80°C...

So I ordered some fine/small diamond mesh to install and hopefully that works a lot better

Anybody know how? It doesn't seem to have to be bolted on, just placed on top?

It just seemed a bit odd to just place them on top and leave them...so wanted to confirm first.
