Losing Brakes all the time

Post by pharaohsmuffins »

Hi my name is Gavin and i own a VW CADDY Maxi 2litre TDI..Its a 2011Model with a CLC Motor..
I have been having endless problems with my van losing brakes .. I have to constantly bleed the brakes every day before i drive it
each day becuase by the end of the day the brakes are flat again. it seems there is air in the system and we have replaced the
Master Cylinder with a secondhand one twice and and we still have this problem.. 2 of them surely cant have the same symptom...

Im really hoping someone can advise me as im really tired of bleeding brakes everyday..
If anyone knows of a place that can refurbish or supply a aftermarket cylinder in the Durban area...
If someone can advise us on where air could be getting into the system..

PLEASE HELP...

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

I recall coming across this before, Sounds like there is air in the ABS pump -Will need VCDS to bleed the abs pump.

Also try to bleed as follows: Front Left then Front Right then rear Left then rear right, best while ABS pump is running.

Why bleed that way? I have always bleed the furthest wheel first, so back right if you are looking at the car, in my MkI's case.

Since all the lines run to the ABS pump(located front left) then a single line runs across to the MC.(where as pre ABS , it all ran to the MC)
The whole idea is to get the air out the ABS pump and can only be activated by either a scan tool or by driving fast and standing on the brakes letting the ABS kick in.
I agree that on a non ABS car the traditional way, furthest then work your way closest to the MC.

The procedure needs to be done 100%, otherwise start over if air gets in again.

Cool, the ABS pump puts a kink in the pipework, so to speak.
