mk2

Post by Wesleymk2gti »

Hi there, my name is wesley recently a proud owner of a 2.0 16valve mk2 GTI, and I am looking to "modernize" her a bit, metallic paint job, decent wheels, sunroof, redo the interior etc. Firstly I would like to start with the Dash as it squeeks and scratches to no end. Knowing the MK2 is wider then the mk1 and that both have no major electronics, I would like to look into "no hate please" installing a citi dash into my mk2 for various personal reasons. Just wondering besides the obvious bracket here and there what else is there to it.

Welcome to the forum...

old square citi dash fits, newer Velo style dash will work but you will have to ditch your heater radiator and close up that hole in the firewall...
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

Measure out the millennium polo dash for fitment.

The MK2 is a bit wider than the Citi, that's why I suggest a 6N polo dash as it's slightly wider than a Citi also.

If the dash goes in ok, then why not do the harness with it. I think the digifant can be spliced in and make it all OEM.

Welcome. I am surprised you have not been beaten down for wanting to mod a Std Mk2 16v.

Why not look at a mk3 dash.

Also, post some pics.
