Vw 1.8 kr 16v running on mp9 issues!
Hi guys, I have a vw golf mk3 98 , The car originally had a 1.6i motor running on mp9 , I swopped out the old engine and did a conversion to a 1.8 kr 16v motor from a mk2 gti, But im getting issues, The motor is in the car and everything is connected up to run on the mp9 system, Got my intake manifold modified to fit the mp9 throttle body and got a custom made fuel rail made up to fit the mp9 injectors , The car starts up , but it does not want to idle correctly or at all!, The only way to keep the engine alive is to keep the rpm high, and the engine cannot handle under its own power, it will just die out as if it has now torque power. Please guys any suggestions as to what i am doing wrong or what i should do would be much appreciated ?
Here are some pics of the engine.

You either need to get the MP9 ECU remapped (if it is at all possible for that motor), or get something like a Unichip installed and tuned, or an aftermarket management system.

@amstel18 yes it is tapped in on the intake, but on the kr intake on the lower bottom end piece which is bolted onto the head there is a air pipe fitting that i think was used for the old k-jetronic system , i have blocked it off but im not sure if that might be the problem , as ive seen on other kr conversions to electronic management they have a isv control , and i dont know if i need that for the intake or if thats the reason for the engine not idleing or performing correctly.

Fit it and take it to a dyno. Too many variables and guessing to give you a number. If correctly setup and mapped, you should yield about the same figures as a std KR setup.Pietersternberg wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 11:09 pm Hi can any one tell me how much kw and torque i can get on 1.8 16v kr with polo cup mp9 ecu .
