Greetings - Mk4 Jetta 1.8t R
Hi Everyone,
New to this forum, and as the title goes, I own a Mk4 Jetta 1.8T R. This will be the first car that I will be modding, so apologies in advance for the irritation that i will cause
I thought that I can get some time-relevant pointers in modding her from you guys. Before i get a " " from everyone, Yes, I have searched extensively on the modding path to go wrt this platform. The thing is, most referrals date back to 7, 8 years ago.
I am in need of some connections of who to turn to for the following as a starter:
Downpipe (looking at 63mm, but may consider a 76mm and full exhaust)
Software / Map - I've been quoted in the region of R6000, and this sounds a little expensive for software alone to me, or am i wrong?
Once thats done, i'll look towards intake etc etc.
There are lots of Joe Soaps out there who can do the job - But i'd like to use someone reputable who wont just bolt on things and turn away with no aftersales service. You are more than welcome to PM me if you would rather mention contacts in private as this is a public forum with rules.
Thanks guys and girls.

Why a 76mm downpipe opposed to a 63mm though? Any long term effects on a K03s with a 76mm?

Greetings!
Before any mods, rather look into preventative maintenance first replacing common failure points before looking at increasing performance on your vehicle. This will go a long way

Software with dyno runs is R5500
They are so good looking cars in that Trim
Run all the maintenance before working on it as others have said.

Remap on those cars is free if you DIY, it will take you a few months of reading, trial and error though. 63mm DP if you don't plan on doing Hybrid or anything. FMIC as well please. Stock Inlet pipe is perfect. Stock DV is perfect.

Re: Greetings - Mk4 Jetta 1.8t R
Thanks for all the replies, appreciate the feedback!
Completed a major service a month ago which covered the cambelt and waterpump amongst other general service issues. The cambelt and waterpump changes were done as preventative rather than reactive to a problem.
The only issue remaining to sort out is the cooling system - It seems that the previous owner was running water in the system for a prolonged duration which led to rust buildup. As a result, the coolant gets discoloured to a brown colour... I'd had the cooling system running with water only for the past month, in anticipation of a flush and coolant top-up, but i've instead opted for a radiator specialist to have a look. The car is at the radiator specialist who will advise on the route to take though. If anyone has had experience with this and can advise, please do!
Other than that, she's been great to drive in stock form for the past year that I've had her.
Once the cooling system is up and running 100% (tried and tested with N1 buccleuch interchange traffic, new road, etc), i'll look to the DP and software.
