I'm new to the club and firstly would like to say hello.
I recently purchased a 2009 Polo Comfortline 1.6, I changed the battery and the airbag light came on. Other than that, the car was running perfectly. I took it to a company to reset, which they did. They also offered to check my aircon as this is their speciality. The tech advised that re-gassing, oil was required and the relay needed to be replaced, I agreed to this. On trying to start my car, it was misfiring, backfiring, erratic idle. Press the excelerator, no response at times. Then at times it would pick up revs without pressing the excelerator. We tried numerous troubleshooting checks etc. to determine the cause.
I was forced to take the car to VW who now has hit me with a huge bill. They say that the head gasket is blown. How could a perfectly running car blow a head gasket? Only two things were done, work on the ECU and aircon re-gassing.
Please shed some light.
